Rules for work on this historic structure: · Work will only occur when scheduled and there is a member of the National Park Service or a Board Member of South Potomac Citizens Association present. · Please keep in mind that this is a historic structure and we must be careful about possible damage or changes to it. · Do not remove any of the rock or concrete structure. · Do not use tools that will cause scrapes on the structure or remove the moss. · In removing branches, pull and if there is any resistance, stop and cut as close as you can to the structure. · Be careful as there are holes and depressions throughout the area. Please watch where you walk. · Cut small growth as close as you can. The Park Service will later come to treat this growth with chemicals to stop future growth. · Watch out for loose parts of the structure. · Always walk very carefully around the structure, moving slowly. · There is poison oak/ivy, therefore, wear gloves, long sleeves shirts & pants. · Do not climb up on top of the structure or go into the passageways.
